Columbia Riverkeeper
web design & online marketing for environmental justice nonprofit
Columbia Riverkeeper came to us wanting to overhaul their outdated Drupal website. With an audience of over 60,000 supporters, an updated brand, and five unique focus areas in their environmental work, they knew their website wasn't communicating their work clearly--and it was difficult to maintain, on top of that.
We rebuilt their website on Wordpress, integrated their CRM, and built custom architecture to organize their Campaigns, Actions, and Events on the back-end, while also making them easily navigable and searchable for visitors on the front-end.

We designed the homepage and architecture for Columbia Riverkeeper with several goals in mind:
- driving visitors to get involved by signing petitions and writing to elected officials
- offering easy pathways to donate
- making it easy to understand their mission and their major focus areas
- using iconography and their brand palette as a visual throughline for each of their focus areas

In addition to our goal-focused reimagining of their homepage, we created custom-built templates and content types to help them reinforce visual consistency across different projects and programs--something they'd struggled with on their old website.
We also made it easy for them to highlight and reference past content, so their visitors can easily follow the story of each issue, and dig more deeply into it.

Since our work with them on their website, we've become a trusted partner with the Columbia Riverkeeper team, supporting them with website content management, social media and email marketing, and analytics reporting across their varied online channels.
Our successes since becoming their online marketing support team include surpassing their donation goal for the 2024 giving season, and reaching new highs in participation for their public comments and actions.
